It was actually pretty damn good π very good actually. During the cold season I tend to break routine for some high caloric, dense comfort food π Probably be another year before I eat another burger, but was a good treat nonetheless. This type of training is NOT my favorite by any means. I hate it to be honest, but itβs necessary. As I/we age, our bodies stiffen up, muscle gets tighter after so many workouts. Also combat sports puts your body to the test. So this type of training has become necessary to keep my hips workin smoothly, to strengthen my once βtorn-upβ knees, and to keep my shoulder joints fluid and injury free. I like to think of my body as a βwell oiled machine.β Not all training has to be glamorous or exciting, we must remember itβs the small things that add up π― Have the discipline to get shit done βοΈ

Lately training for the both of us has been less about being big and strong, and more about mobility and overall health and fitness. Iβd be lying to say that age wasnβt part of that decision, it is, slightly; but itβs more that weβve transitioned from actual bodybuilding into combat sports. Being huge and super strong is cool, IN the gym, but serves little to no purpose outside the gym. Youβre slow, cumbersome, low stamina, less flexibility, etc. As we age, itβs less about how we look, and more about how we move and feel π―Okay

The squats I kept lighter, with better form since my knees have my killin me lately π« Some, or most, will use that as an excuse to dismiss the workout completely. The first is working on external hip rotation, the second is a very low, weighted Cosack Squat variation. Staying low will help open the hips, allowing for better flexibility. Which all n all provides easier and better bodily movement, in daily life or sports π―
